The Santa Barbara County “Missions” are clay tokens created for the purpose of monetizing
volunteer activities of mission-driven organizations in the Santa Barbara community.
Normally volunteerism is a privilege for people whose basic needs are already cared for.
SB Missions “level the socio-economic landscape” by offering people a means to meet
their basic needs through their volunteer efforts.
Missions come in denominations of one (1) two (2) and four (4) Missions.
Missions are created when an individual person (the Grantor) commissions a set of Missions to
be granted to a mission-driven organization of their choice (the Grantee). The names of the
Grantor and Grantee are inscribed on the edge of each Mission.
